Twill be hosting a on campus beginning April 28 to further connect the Dartmouth community with students, artists, academics, and othersacross the African continent, Latin America, the Middle East, and beyond.
Located in the Kemeny Courtyard behind Baker-Berry Library, the pop-up Dartmouth Portal features an immersive room, one wall of which is a screen that connects users to people in other portals around the world.
As part of the Dartmouth Dialogues commitment to respectful discussion across differences, the Dartmouth Portal will provide students, staff, and faculty an opportunity to engage with communities in nearly 20 countries to challenge perspectives, sharpen intercultural communication skills, and facilitate difficult conversations.
Additionally, students enrolled in classes will present speeches to diverse audiences, hone rhetorical skills, and make meaningful connections.

The opportunity to connect globally for ongoing dialogue provided through the Portal is one that embodies the priorities of the Dialogue Project- connection, relationship building, and finding what is shared across difference,” says , executive director of dialogue initiatives. “I’m grateful that the speech department introduced this opportunity to the Dialogue Project.”

- Native American Program: Indigenous Voices in the Americas, with people in Mexico City, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29;
- Samba and Afro Brazilian Music as a Tool for Cultural Preservation, with people in São Vicente, Brazil, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2;
- Women’s Voices in the Future of Sustainable Fashion, with people from Johannesburg, South Africa, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, on Tuesday, May 6.
